Lucy is a happy, silly, wiggly dog who loves life.  She is a 2 year old, spayed American Pit Bull Terrier/Boxer mix.  She weighs 49 pounds.  She has been at the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter since April 13, 2014.

Lucy is a sweet, energetic young dog.  She pulls a little on-leash but is easily corrected.  In the yard where she can run around and play fetch, she calms down very quickly.  She also calms down when her inappropriate behavior is ignored.  She sits and makes good eye contact.  She is very anxious to please her person.

Buddy is looking for a family of his own.  He has a unique face that will make you smile.  One year stands straight up and the other ear bends in the middle and flops down.  It gives him character and makes him unique is what he would say.  Buddy is an 8 year old male German Shepherd.  He weighs 61 pounds.

Buddy was found as a stray.  So sad that a loving dog like this was left to wander the streets alone.  No one ever came looking for him.  Buddy acts much younger than his given age.  He is easy to walk on-leash and is not reactive towards the other dogs when walking through the kennel.  Buddy loves tone brushed and his coat looks spectacular after a good brushing.

One look into Denny’s eyes and your hair will melt.  Not only is he a spectacular dog to look at, but he has the personality to match.  Denny was found as a stray on June 24, 2014.  He is a 3 year old male American Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix (perhaps Boxer).  He weighs 55 pounds.

The good Samaritans who rescued off the street described hims as a “sweet soul” and that pretty much tells it all.  He is a gentle, loving dog who, although shy in the beginning, warmed up quickly to the volunteers who spent time with him.  He responded immediately to basic commands of Sit, Down, and Paw and seems quite eager to please.

Margaret has an incredible personality.  She is described by the volunteers who have worked with her as “goofy, friendly, loving.”  She puts on her own entertainment for anyone who will take the time to watch her.  She is like a little kid who loves to play and loves an audience.  You will not be able to stop laughing as you watch her antics.

Lexi is a dog who is very easy to love.  Not only does she have a face that will melt hearts but she has a personality to match.  Lexi is a 4 year old, spayed American Pit Bull Terrier who was found as a stray and brought to the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter on May 5, 2014.  Lexi weighs 59 pounds.

Lexi has a very sweet and gentle disposition.  She enjoys being with people and is very easy to handle.  She presents no problems coming out of and being put back into her run.  She is non-reactive towards the other dogs who are barking at her as she walks through the kennel.  She knows some basic commands such as Sit and Shake.

Henry is a spectacular dog in every sense of the word.  His one blue eye makes you look twice and his sweet, gentle personality adds to his charm.  Henry is a 5 year old, neutered American Staffordshire Bull Terrier/Siberian Husky mix.  He weighs 65 pounds. Henry was originally adopted from the shelter several years ago and was returned by his owners due to relocation and personal issues.

Henry is described as a wonderful dog who loves to be with people and is good with other dogs but does not like cats.  Volunteers who have spent time with him describe him as a great dog who is a pleasure to handle.  He walks and runs with his person.  He knows basic commands of Sit, Down and Paw and loves to get treats.

Raider is a very special dog.  He was part of a family until family illness forced them to surrender him.  Raider is a 2 year old, neutered American Bulldog/American Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix.  He weighs 57 pounds.  Raider had been at the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter since April 5, 2014.  He was described by his previous owner as friendly towards other people and other dogs.  He reportedly barks very rarely, loves to be petted and is a very pleasant dog.  He enjoys playing fetch and catch and rides will in a car.

Charcoal is one of the cutest dogs that you will ever see.  He is a 1 year 1 month old, neutered black and white male Beagle/Pug mix.  He weighs 39 pounds.  He was found wandering the streets of West Los Angeles and brought to the shelter on April 25, 2014.

Charcoal is still being a puppy and he has a lot of energy.  He loves to play with his plush toy and also to retrieve.  he enjoys belong around people and is very comfortable being touched all over.  He can be a little mouthy when he forgets his manners but he is not aggressive.

Tin Tin is a 4 year old, neutered American Pit Bull Terrier.  He was found as a stray and brought to the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter on April 23, 2014.  He weighs 87 pounds.

The volunteers who have worked with Tin Tin describe him as a very responsive dogs who melts your heart when he looks at you with his big, beautiful eyes.  He is a big teddy bear of a dog who, because of his size, will do best with a strong handler.  He walks well on-leash and corrects easily because he is attentive towards his handler.

He may have a tough guy name and a stare that might make you back away, but never would you be more mistaken.  Capone, who is a 3 year old, neutered American Pit Bull Terrier, is one of the sweetest dogs that you will ever nee.  Capone was found as a stray on March 30, 2014.  He has a severe case of mange which had caused him to lose most of the fur on his back.  He was put on intensive treatment, has now recovered and the hair is growing back.

Lady is a young dog so she has a lot of every and is quite active.  She knows the Sit command.  She walks pretty well on-leash, pulling a little bit.  She loves to play fetch in the play yard.

There is only one thing sweeter than this face and it’s her personality!  Daisy is a 2 year 3 month old, brown and white female Staffordshire Bull Terrier.  She was found wandering the streets of West Los Angeles on March 9, 2014 and brought to the West LA Animal Shelter.  She weighs 54 pounds.

If you want to meet sweetness in person, you have to spend time with Daisy.  She is one of the most gentle, sweetest dogs that you will every meet.  She walks very well on-leash and pays attention to her person.  She is easy to get in and out of her kennel.  She is non-reactive toward the other dogs when walking through the kennel to the play yard.

Dolly is a very special dog and so beautiful!  She is a 1 year, 8 month old, female American Staffordshire Bull Terrier.  She weighs 75 pounds.  She was found as a stray on April 6, 2014 and brought to the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter.

Dolly is a favorite among the volunteers who, without exception, describe her as a great dog.  Dolly walks well on-leash and has been on neighborhood walks.  She corrects very easily and actually looks to her person for direction.

Juliet is one of the most stunning dogs you will ever see!  She is an 8 month old, female Labrador Retriever mix.  She weighs 48 pounds. She had a family at one time but they just isn’t want her anymore.  Juliet is still a puppy; she needs the stability of an owner willing to work with her and be there for her as she matures.

Besides being a stunning dog to look at, Juliet is, as one volunteer describes her, “super sweet.”  She is a submissive dog who craves the attention of her person.  She is a medium-energy dog who is easy to walk.  She just needs a little more leash training.  She has a tendency to stop while being walked on-leash.  With encouragement and praise, she resumes walking.

This is a face that is easy to fall in love with!  Stalle is her name and she is a 3 year old female Staffordshire Bull Terrier.  She weighs 44 pounds.  Stella was found as a stray on May 11, 2014, and brought to the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter by the guardian angel who found her.

Before taking her to the shelter, Stella was temperament-tested.  She was introduced to many other dogs, both male and female, aggressive and easy-going, and she had no problems.  She was also introduced to men, women and children and did fine.  She is a very people-oriented dog.

Stewie’s eyes tell his story.  He had a home once, but they didn’t have time for him anymore; on May 22, 2014, he was left at the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter.  He misses his family.  His eyes are weeping!

Stewie is a beautiful 1 year 1 month old, male American Staffordshire Bull Terrier.  Stewie is truly an amazing dog.  He loves other people and is good with other dogs.  He is housebroken and likes to ride in the car.

The volunteers who have spent time with him describe him as easy to walk, gentle and sweet.  He knows Sit and Stay.  He does not like the crate, perhaps because it was used for punishment.  Making it a good experience for him will allow him to get over this fear.

Koala is one of the nicest dogs you will ever meet.  She is a 2 year old, female American Pit Bull Terrier.  She weighs 65 pounds.  She was found as a stray (hard to believe) on May 5, 2014 and is now at the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter.

Koala quickly established herself as a volunteer favorite but why not??  She is described as being a super sweet dog who is very friendly.  What else do we need to say?  She walks extremely well on-leash, knows her Sit and Shake commands and is an incredibly easy dog to handle in every way.

One of the volunteers at the West Los Angeles Shelter loves this little guy.  “He’s not much to look at,” she said, “But he is so sweet and I just love him.” 

His name is Harry and he was found as a stray wandering the streets of LA and dodging the cars.  Harry is a 10 year old, male Terrier mix.  He has been at the shelter since June 1, 2014.

It’s easy to see why anyone would love Harry.  He is a friendly, happy little dog who is sweet and gentle.  He loves belly rubs and just enjoys being with his person.  He shares space with another dog and is fine with that.

Terry was surrendered to the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter with his best friend Oreo on April 15, 2014.  Both have very old ID#’s, meaning that they were first adopted as very young dogs.  Terry is an 11 year old, neutered male Cocker Spaniel mix.  He weighs 14 pounds.

Terry is a sweet senior dog who does not act his age.  he loves to sit in his person’s lap and thoroughly enjoys the extra attention that he gets and craves so much.  He is a very gentle and loving dog.  He gets along fine with other dogs.

Isabel and Jessi Belle (probably her mother) were part of a group of dogs impounded and taken to the animal shelter.  Isabel spent several months at the Harbor Shelter and is now at the WLA Shelter.  She has never had a home.  She doesn’t even know what a real home is!  Isabel is a 1 1/2 year old spayed female American Pit Bull Terrier.  She weighs 52 pounds.
