Claudia is a beautiful 3-4 year old girl. She was probably used as a breeding machine and then thrown out with the garbage. She was scheduled to be put down, and since the governor never called, her foster ran and got her out.

"Cassie" Wants To Please

"Sweet girl" is the comment that every volunteer who spends time with Cassie has to say about her. She is a sweet girl!! Cassie is a 1 year old unaltered female, blue Pit Bull Terrier. She has been at the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter since March 23, 2013. Cassie is a small-sized Pit Bull Terrier weighing only 38 pounds.

Easy-Going "Hendrix"

The volunteers at the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter who know Hendrix describe him as a sweet and easy-going dog. Hendrix is a 52 pound 2 year old, unaltered male, black and white American Staffordshire Terrier who was found as a stray on March 28, 2013, and brought to the shelter.

"Nicky" Is A Survivor!

Nicky is a survivor! He was found as a stray in Mar Vista Park on April 23, 2013 and was brought to the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter. When he was examined, his entire body was found to be covered with ticks. He was immediately given several tick-removing baths and his fur was clipped. How long he and his buddy Jedi (ID# A1386562) wandered the streets, we will never know. They now share a kennel at the shelter and seem to be very bonded to one another.

Jedi and his best friend Nicky (ID# A1386566) were found together wandering through Mar Vista Park in West Los Angeles on April 23, 2013. They were brought to the West LA Animals Shelter where they remain to this day - each waiting for a home but keeping paws crossed that they might go to the same home.

Oh "Henry"! So Sad!

Poor Hentry never had a chance to give his side of the story! Hentry is a 15 year old, neutered male, white and black Cardigan Welsh Corgi/Beagle mix who was surrendered by his owner to the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter on February 28, 2013. The reason given was that he was unpredictable and "nippy." Henry weighs 29 pounds.

Henry was kept in quarantine at the shelter until late April 2013 when he was brought out into the general population in the hopes that he might be rescued. Because of the information given by the previous owner, Hentry can only go to a rescue.

"Tasha" Touched My Heart!

Tasha's profile alone should make you smile. Those huge eyes and that cute little pug nose will warm your heart. Tash is a 9 year old, unaltered female, brown and black smooth-coated Chihuahua. She was found as a stray on April 14, 2013, and was brought to the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter. She weighs 10 pounds.

Tasha has a very soft, luxurious brindle-colored coat. Her little turned-up noes and expressive eyes make her about the cutest dog that you will every see. And she has the personality to go along with her looks. Tasha is a friendly, loving little dog who enjoys sitting in your lap and surveying the world around her. She is very affectionate, loves her treats and has a soft mouth. She gets along with other dogs and has shared kennel space with another dog.

Gentle "Nala"

She strayed from home, and on March 21, 2013, she was brought to the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter. She still stares through the fence, looking for her family, but they have not come yet.

Tiny "Tina"

Look at those huge eyes! If that isn't the saddest look in the world then I don't know what is. Tina is pleading for a home. Tina is a sweet little 2 year 4 month old, unaltered female, brown smooth-coated Chihuahua who weighs 11 pounds. Tina has a unique look to her because one ear is always up and on-alert while the other ear is down. She also has a cute little curly tail.

Just Plain "Brownie"

A volunteer who knows and loves Brownie describes him as "just a plain brown dog." Maybe that's why he gets overlooked at the shelter! He has been at the West Los Angeles Shelter since February 19, 2013. Brownie is a 3 year old, neutered male, brown Chihuahua - a smooth-coated dog who weighs 11 pounds.

"Toro" Is Terrific!

Toro's eyes tell the story! He is sad, and he is saying, "Please get me out of here and into my forever home." Toro is a 1 year 10 month old, neutered male, gray and white Staffordshire Bull Terrier. He weighs 54 pounds. He has been at the West Los Angeles Animals Shelter since February 28, 2013.

"Tickle" The Little Love Bug!

Tickle is as cute as they come! He is a 6 year old, unaltered male, brown and white smooth-coated Chihuahua who weighs 8 pounds. he has been at the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter since February 19, 2013. Tickle is a sweet little dog who just seems to be overlooked by everyone…maybe because he is so small.

"Sandy" Is Special

Sandy was found as a stray on March 17, 2013. Just another unwanted dog! How very sad! Sandy is a wonderful 10 year old, spayed female, red Chow Chow mix who weighs 43 pounds.

Sandy is one of the sweetest dogs that you will ever meet. She acts ouch younger than her age. She walks well on-leash and does not react to the other dogs as she walks through the kennel. She knows her commands of Sit and Stay and gives her paw very willingly before you even have a chance to ask.

Emergency! This Los Angeles English Bulldog Needs a Home by Friday!!

This English Bulldog needs a home by this Friday! His family has a landlord that doesn't allow dogs. The owners need to have him out by Friday or they face eviction. He is 8 years old, reported to be in good health, good with kids and other dogs. He is not altered, but will need to be ASAP. He needs to go to a good family home. "Bee Bee" You Are Special!

Bee Bee is a 4 year old, unaltered female, blue and white American Staffordshire Terrier mix who weighs approximately 65 pounds. She was surrendered to the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter on March 31, 2013, because of illness.

Bee Bee's previous owners had had her since she was a puppy. They described her as "an amazing dog who is great with children and dogs." They further described her as "very friendly and lovable." She is apparently not good with cats.

"Cali" - What a Girl!

Cali looks so sad, and she probably was since this photo was taken on March 8, 2013…the day her family relinquished her and her brother Eddie to the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter because they were moving out of the country.

Cali is a 5 year old spayed female, blue and white Pit Bull Terrier. She is an extremely gentle and friendly dog, who is easy to walk and who responds very quickly to commands. She knows Sit, Stay and Come and gives her paw. She is treat-motivated and has a very soft mouth. Cali is housebroken. She responds very quickly when called by name.

"Eddie" Is My Boy!

Eddie is one of the most amazing dogs that you will ever meet. Eddie is a 5 year old neutered male, blue and white Pit Bull Terrier, who was surrendered to the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter on March 8, 2013, by his owners because they were moving out of the country.

Eddie has lived with one family since he was 6 months old. He hared this home with his sister Cali who, for now, occupies the run next to him. Eddie is an extremely friendly dog who likes people, including children. He gets along with other dogs, but has had no experience with cats. He is housebroken, okay in the car and walks well on-leash.

Sweet Little "Chanel"

She probably didn't mean to wander away from home, but she did. She got lost and never found her way back. Chanel was picked up as a stray on March 27, 2013, and was brought to the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter. Her owners never came looking for her.

What A "Beauty"

Beauty is definitely a very beautiful dog. She is a 1 year 4 month old unaltered female black and white Labrador Retriever and Weimaraner mix who weighs 59 pounds. She has been at the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter since December 12, 2012 - much too long for such a great dog.

Beauty is described by the volunteers who have worked with her and know her as "the sweetest girl." She walks very well on-leash and even walks next to her person without a leash. She is super attentive and just a little bit timid. Her life has not been easy.
