They came in together as strays on September 19, 2013.  We named them Thelma and Louise and wondered if they might be mother and daughter.  Thelma was thought to be around 10 years old and Louise about 7.  they were amazing together, and we all hoped that they would be adopted together but that did not happen.  Louise was adopted, leaving Thelma behind to wait for her forever home.

Thelma is a fantastic 10 year old, spayed female, black and brown Doberman Pinscher.  She weighs 71 pounds.  Thelma is one of the most amazing dogs that you ever will see.  Besides her elegant Doberman beauty and grace, she is a dog who will melt her heart.

What a beautiful face!  Miley is a 6 year old, female American Staffordshire Terrier mix.  She weights 40 pounds so she is a great size.  She was found as a stray on September 3, 2013 and brought to the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter.

Miley is a volunteer favorite!  One volunteer wrote about her, "She is the sweetest, calmest dog in the shelter."  Other comments include "best dog" and "friendly dog."  She is good with other dogs but mostly she just loves people.

Chrissy is a 3 far old, unaltered female, gray Staffordshire Bull Terrier who was found as a stray on August 15, 2013 and is now at the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter.  She weighs 63 pounds.

Chrissy loves to get out of her kennel and is an easy dog to handle.  She does not react to there other dogs barking at her as she passes by.  In the yard when other dogs approach her through the fence, she is curious and happy and has not barked at them.  Chrissy is a friendly dog who loves people and who likes belly rubs more than anything.  She's a fun dog to be around.

He's just a puppy, but wait until you can see how much fun you can have with him!  Gary is a 10 month old, neutered male, black and white Staffordshire Bull Terrier/American Pit Bull Terrier mix.  He weighs 41 pounds.  He has been at the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter since August 16, 2013.

Gary is a fun dog.  He loves everybody - people and dogs alike.  He is a little shy at first, but once in the yard, the puppy in him comes out.  He appears to be housebroken.  He pulls a little on-leash because he is so eager to get out.

He's a big boy, but what a sweetheart he is!  Tommy has been at the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter since August 3, 2013.  He is a 6 year old, neutered male, blue and white American Staffordshire Terrier.  He weighs 72 pounds.

Tommy was described by his previous owner as friendly with everyone.  That is also how the volunteers at the shelter who have spend time with him describe Tommy.  He has a nice temperament was one comment.  Tommy is very playful and loved to get out of his run and into the yard to play.  He is not particularly interested in toys; he just wants to get out and enjoy a few moments of freedom.

She sits at the front of her kennel and, with her beautiful, black marble eyes, she stares at everyone passing by as if to say "Please help me." Brooklynn is a 10 month old, unaltered female, black and white Staffordshire Bull Terrier/Labrador Retriever mix.  She weighs 45 pounds.  Brooklyn was found as a stray and has been at the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter since September 20, 2013.

Brooklyn is an amazing dog.  She is petite with a shiny black and white coat.  Her face will either make you smile or bring tears to your eyes.  Brooklyn is a homeless dog, like so many other thousands of dogs.  If you stop to look at her, chances are she will roll over on her back with her legs sticking straight up and her eyes pleading for you to love her.

Baron is, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful dogs you will ever see.  He is a 9 month old, unaltered male, tricolor American Staffordshire Terrier.  He weighs 55 points.

Baron was surrendered to the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter on September 4, 2013, by his owner because of landlord issues.  The pervious owner described Baron as a friendly dog with children and adults.  He is also reportedly housebroken.

Roxy loves people!  She and her best friend Yoda were part of a family for years, but they were both surrendered to the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter on September 4, 2013.  Yoda has been adopted, leaving Roxy behind to wait for her forever home.

Roxy is a pretty 6 year old, spayed female, tan Labrador Retriever mix.  She weighs 53 pounds.  Roxy was described by her previous owner as being friendly with everyone.  She is housebroken.  Roxy pulls a little on-leash coming out of her kennel because she is so eager to get into the yard.  She is a happy girl when she can run around the yard like there is no tomorrow.  She sits on command and loves getting treats.  She needs work on leash manners, but she is smart, treat-motivated and eager to please and she will learn.

She was found as a stray on September 2, 2013 and brought to the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter.  Surely someone would come looking for this wonderful dog but they never did.  Meme is a 4 year old, unaltered female, black and white Labrador Retriever mix.  She weighs 57 pounds.

Let's play ball!  Melanie is ready to go.  Melanie is a beautiful 2 year old, unaltered female, gray and white American Staffordshire Terrier.  She weighs 70 pounds.  She was found as a stray on August 27, 2013 and brought to the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter.

Melanie is an amazing dog.  She is a very sweet and, although strong and excited to get out of her run, she makes good eye contact is eager to please.  One volunteer commented that she was a "joy to take out."  Melanie knows her Sit command.

It's Amelia's beauty that will first catch your eye.  Getting to know her will be the fun part because Amelia is a very special dog.  Amelia is a 4 year old, female American Pit Bull Terrier.  She weighs 53 pounds.  Amelia was found as a stray and has been at the West Los Angeles Animals shelter since June 8, 2013.

Amelia is a smart dog who is ver responsive to direction.  She is a high energy dog, but she calms down very quickly after she has had a chance to work off some of her energy running around the yard.  She loves to be around people and a belly rub always feels good.

She belonged!  Once she was part of the family, but when they decided to move, they left her behind.  Maggie was brought to the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter on August 31, 2013.  Maggie is an 8 year old, unaltered female, tan and white American Staffordshire Terrier mix.  She weighs 75 pounds.

The shelter is a scary place on this gentle, sweet dog.  She has only known family and now she is surrounded by unfamiliar sounds and people.  Maggie's previous owner described her as friendly and okay in the car and on-leash.

Cody is pure elegance in motion!  He is a 3 year old, neutered male, brown and black Doberman Pinscher/Greyhound mix.  He weighs 78 pounds.  Cody has been at the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter since July 7, 2013.

Cody is a very regal dog who is easy to handle because he walks well with his person on a loose leash and is very calm.  He is always anxious to get out of his kennel and into the yard.  Fortunately he has many volunteers who love him and have made comments like "great dog" about him.  He has a beautiful galloping gait when he runs in the yard.  On walks through the neighborhood, he has done beautifully.

Clementine's eyes are pleading with someone to take her out of the shelter and into a home of her own, a forever home!  Clementine is a 5 year old, spayed female, black Australian Shepherd mix.  She weighs 45 pounds.

Clementine has been at the West Los Angeles Shelter since August 13, 2013.  She was surrendered by her owner who described her as a "great dog."  They further added that she was very friendly with people, but has a tendency to snap at other dogs.

Chrissy is an 8 year old, spayed female, brown and white smooth-coated Chihuahua.  Chrissy has been at the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter since June 3, 2013…much too long!!

Chrissy is a sweet dog who loves to be the "mama dog" in her cage.  She worries and watches over the other dogs that she shares space with.  She gets along fine with everyone, but she has taken on the role of "mama."  Chrissy loves to be held and cuddled and is truly a lap dog.  She is a very nurturing dog, even in this very stressful environment that she is forced to live in.

Sugar sweet is the best way to describe this little dog.  Sugar is a 10 year old, unaltered female, tan smooth-coated Chihuahua.  She weighs 9 pounds.  Sugar and her lifelong companion were surrendered to the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter on August 3, 2013, because her owners were moving.  Her friend has already been adopted, leaving Sugar behind to wait for her forever home.

Patrick is quite the boy!  He is an unaltered male, blue and white Staffordshire Bull Terrier who was found as a stray on July 17, 2013 and brought to the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter.  Patrick is a big boy and weighs 70 pounds.

Patrick is a strong dog, but he is easy to take out of his run at the shelter.  He walks well on-leash.  He really enjoys being able to trot around the yard with his person.  He knows his commands of Sit, Stay, Down and Giving High Five.  He enjoys his treats and will learn much more quickly if there is a treat waiting for him.

"Roxy" Is A Survivor!

Roxy had a home once!  She even had a best friend names Tiger, a 12 year old Shepherd mix, that she had grown up with.  In a brief moment, it was all lost.  Her owner died in a tragic accident, and Roxy and her friend were surrendered to the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter on August 26, 2013.  Tiger was adopted within days, and not Roxy is all along.

Roxy is a 12 year old, spayed female, black and tan Rottweiler/German Shepherd mix.  She weighs 75 pounds, however, appears quite thin and is on extra meals.  She has a great appetite.

Austin is a sweet little dog who is shy at first, but he warms up quickly to become your best friend.  He loves to be cuddled and held.  He is housebroken.  He gets along fine with other dogs and shares space with them at the shelter.  Austin is a staff favorite for obvious reasons.
