My Name Is "Charlie" And I'm Lost

UPDATE: ADOPTED 12/28/13

He didn't mean to get lost or maybe they just left the gate open. Charlie became a stray, and on August 16, 2013, he was picked up and brought to the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter. Charlie is an 8 year old, unaltered male, block and brown Dachshund. He weighs 18 pounds.

Charlie is a very sweet, friendly dog who is yearning for human companionship. He likes being handled and is very comfortable in your lap. He is not a pushy dog at all and waits for his turn. He has very expressive eyes which he uses to his advantage.

"Kai Kai" Needs Love and a Forever Home!

There are many reasons given when Kai Kai was surrendered to the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter on August 15, 2013, but none of them made any sense to this little guy who had lived with one family his entire life. "He was old, he was senile, he was blind"…those were just a few of the reasons given. At intake his fur matted and dirty. He has been bathed and will be groomed by shelter staff.

My Name Is "Lukie"

If this little face doesn't make you smile, then I don't know what will!! This is Lukie, a 4 year old, neutered male, tan smooth-coated Chihuahua. He weighs in at a might 9 pounds.

Lukie had a home, but they didn't have time for hims so they brought him to the animal shelter. He doesn't understand why; he is so miserable and sad in a cage. He gets along with other dogs and shares a kennel with several dogs so he's not lonely. But he wants his own home with his own special person.

"Mary Jean" aka "MJ"

Mary Jean is one of the cutest dogs you will ever see. Her small size makes her look like a puppy. Mary Jean (or MJ) is a 2 year old, unaltered female, black smoke and white Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix. She weighs 33 pounds. She has been at the West Los Angeles Animals Shelter since August 5, 2013.

MJ Thinks that she is one of the girls. She loves to sit on the bench alongside her person if given the chance. She is very friendly. She jumps a little but corrects well. She is very smart and has good focus so teaching her basic manners will not be difficult.

My Boy "Sonny"

UPDATE: ADOPTED 10/5/13

He was expendable! They didn't have time for this cutie anymore. On August 6, 2013, Sonny was surrendered to the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter where he now patiently waits for a new home, a forever home!

Sonny is a 7 year old, neutered male, black and white, smooth-coated Chihuahua. He weighs 7 pounds.

"Waldo" Is Waiting For You!

UPDATE: ADOPTED 9/13/13

The world has passed him by and he doesn't understand why. Waldo is a 9 year old, neutered male, black and brown Shiba Inu mix. He was found as a stray on May 10, 2013, and brought to the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter where he very patiently waits for someone to come for him. Waldo weighs approximately 28 pounds.

Waldo shares kennel space with two other dogs, and he gets along just fine with them. He stares out of this run at everyone who passes by, hoping that someone will give him a chance for life. Waldo is a little timid and is shy about being touched. He doesn't react in a negative way, he just backs off a little bit. It takes him a few minutes to feel comfortable and safe with a person. If only we know what he had been through before ending up at the shelter.

Gentleman "Don"

Don is a true gentleman in every sense of the word. He is elegant, well-mannered and proud. Don is a 4 year old, unaltered male, brown brindle and white American Pit Bull Terrier. He weighs 63 pounds.

A very caring person found Don running the streets of Venice. She picked him up and brought him to the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter on August 5, 2013. His ears were badly chewed up by flies, and he had a few old scars on his muzzle. Clearly this was not a dog who had been well cared for.

"Sully" Is the Cutest!

There can be no cuter face than this!! Little Sully was found as a stray on August 9, 2013 and brought to the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter. He is an 8 year old, unaltered male, black and white, smooth-coated Chihuahua.

Sully is about as sweet as they come. He rarely, if ever, barks. He is very friendly and loves to be held, cuddled, carried or just plain loved. He has a sturdily little body and just a little bit of gray on his face. It is impossible to look at him without smiling.

To Know "Bodi" Is to Love Him!

Bodi hasn't given up yet, but time is running out for this sweet looking boy. Bodi was found as a stray on February 15, 2013, and brought to the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter. Sadly he is beginning to outlive his welcome at the shelter.

Bodi is a 4 year old, neutered male, tan Dachshund mix. He weighs 18 pounds. He has a beautiful face with stunning ears. He sits in the front of his cage, staring at the people passing by, and hoping that someone would stop and talk to him.

Do You Have Time for "Fox?"

He's about as cute as they come! Fox is a 3 year old, neutered male, red and tan, long-haired Chihuahua mix. He weighs 9 pounds. Fox was surrendered to the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter on August 17, 2013. He had lived his entire life with this family, and now they no longer had time for him.

Fox is a very friendly, sweet and gentle dog. He was desperately to please and will give kisses to show his love. He loves to be held and would make a fantastic lap dog. He knows the Sit command and loves treats.

His previous owner described him as friendly with everyone, and that is very obvious the minute that you take him out. He also gets along with other dogs and shares kennel space with two other dogs.

"Holly" Go Lightly!

She had her pups, all five of them, and nursed them until they were ready to be adopted. She was a good mom! They're gone now, and she's left behind. Now she waits patiently for her forever home. Holly is a 3 year old, unaltered female, brown and tan German Shepherd mix. She weighs 71 pounds.

Holly was found as a stray on July 5, 2013, and was transferred to the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter from another city shelter. Holly does not like being in a cage, and she wants desperately to get out of her kennel. She can be a little distracted in the yard, but, just as quickly, she can become very friendly and eager to be with her person. She is a dog who is needy and craves human attention.

Hello "Dolly!"

The look in Dolly's eyes says, "What Happened? How did I end up here?" She's not exactly an escape artist, but somehow she became a stray. On May 18, 2013 she was picked up and brought to the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter. Maybe because she doesn't bark very much or maybe because she just sits quietly and waits, she gets ignored…so she continues to wait and wait and wait. "Isn't there someone who wants me?" is what she want to know.

Dolly is a 3 year old, spayed female, cream-colored smooth-coated Chihuahua and French Bulldog mix. She weighs 13 pounds. Dolly is a friendly, loving little dog who would make a great couch potato dog. She would love to snuggle next to her person; her life would be complete. She likes to give kisses and is gentle, sweet and easy going. She walks will on-leash and is okay with other dogs, sharing kennel space with several dogs.

"Willa" is Willing!

Willa is such a happy pup! She is a 10 month old, unaltered female, tan Labrador Retriever mix. She weighs 45 pounds. Willa was found as a stray on July 12, 2013 and brought to the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter.

Willa is a very friendly, happy dog who longs for human attention and company. She is an energetic dog who will definitely benefit from basic training and manners. But she is super smart and all she needs is a willing person. Will loves to work and needs to be challenged. She pulls on-leash and needs direction. She knows Sit and Stay. She loves treats.

My "Destiny"

She's cute and she's friendly! What else could you ask for? That's what Destiny would like to know. She was found as a stray and brought to the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter on June 10, 2013. Her name is Destiny. She's an 8 year old, spayed female, brown and white smooth-coated Chihuahua. She weighs 10 pounds.

Destiny is one of the sweetest dogs you will every meet. She loves to be held and cuddle. She gives kisses and would make a greet "couch potato" dog. She woks well on-leash. She shares kennel space with several other dogs and get along fine with them. She enjoys getting treats and has a soft mouth.

That's My "Harley"

Harley is such a handsome young dog! He is a 4 year old, neutered male, brown German Shepherd mix. He weighs 61 pounds. Harley was found as a stray and brought to the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter on June 21, 2013.

Harley has the appearance of a dog who has lived through some tough times on the streets. The good news is that he is still a friendly and affectionate dog. Harley has a sweet personality and loves human companionship. He is a little strong on-leash but did not react to the other dogs as he walked through the kennel.

"Summer" Is Here!

UPDATE: CROSSED THE RAINBOW BRIDGE 8/30/2013

Summer is one of the nicest dogs that you will ever meet. She is an 8 year old, spayed female, white and black Staffordshire Terrier mix. She weighs 64 pounds. Summer was found as a stray and was brought to the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter on May 28, 2013.

Summer is a beautiful dog with a smiling face. Someone has sadly cropped her ears close to her head, but Summer holds no grudge. She is very easy to handle and walks well on-leash, even though she is strong. She knows her commands extremely well and will Sit, Go Down and Stay with intention. She has a soft mouth and loves her treats.

"Henry" The Sweetest!

Henry's sorrowful eyes tell the story! He wonders why someone would turn him into the shelter. Maybe he was too old or they didn't have time for him anymore. On July 13, 2013 he was relinquished to the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter where he patiently waits for a "forever" home where he will be safe and secure…loved and treasured for the great dog that he is.

Henry is a 9 year old, neutered male, black Dachshund mix. He weighs 14 pounds. Henry is a volunteer favorite and for good reason. He loves being touched and held. He becomes very engaged with the person that he is with. He enjoys giving kisses to his person and is very content and comfortable just snuggling in their lap. He rarely barks and is just a happy, well-adjusted, affectionate little dog.

"Black" Beauty

Little Black's eyes reflect the fear that he must have felt when he was brought to the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter as a stray on July 14, 2013. He's such a little guy that the world is a very scary place. Black is a 1 year 3 month old, neutered male, smooth-coated Chihuahua. He is black with a white stripe down his chest. He weighs all of 7 pounds.

Black is as cute as he can be. Every ounce of this little guy is fun. He is very relaxed and sweet. He loves to give kisses to his favorite people which is everyone he meets. He loves people and he is not embarrassed to show it. He is a very loving dog!

"Jennifer" Is Homeless!

She was found as a stray! This sweet little 12 year old Chihuahua was walking the streets when she was found on June 29, 2013, and was brought to the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter. Someone just didn't want her anymore!! Jennifer is a sweet little spayed female, black and gray smooth-coated Chihuahua mix. She weighs 10 pounds.

Jennifer is an adorable little dog with a cute underbite. She is described as a "cuddle bug" with a lap being her favorite place to hang out. She is okay with other dogs. She gets around without any difficulty. Her medical issues at this time include dental tartar and broken incisors…also cloudy eyes with possible cataracts.

She's Just a "Puppy"

They loved her a lot but illness forced this family to surrender their dog to the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter on July 14, 2013. Puppy is a unaltered female, black German Shepherd dog who is about 1 year old. She weighs 62 pounds.

Puppy is a great dog. She is friendly with everyone. She walks well on-leash and is okay in the car. She is housebroken. She sits for treated and makes good eye contact. On occasion she will jump, which is something that basic training can help her with. She is a beautiful dog who takes long strides when she runs and looks like she is gliding along the ground.
